Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of Compass by Davisville Labs, including our website, account features, project workspace, portfolio tools, reflections, college readiness features, payment flows, emails, and related services.
Last updated: July 2, 2026
By accessing or using Compass, davisvillelabs.com, or related Davisville Labs services, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use Compass.
Compass is an educational platform for parents and families. It helps high school students build meaningful projects, save portfolio materials, write reflections, and prepare stronger college application stories over time. Compass is not a college admissions consultant, legal advisor, financial advisor, tax advisor, therapist, medical provider, or school counselor. Compass does not guarantee admission, scholarships, grades, internships, jobs, or any specific outcome.
1. What Compass is
Compass by Davisville Labs is a guided educational platform designed for parents to work with students in grades 9 through 12. Compass helps families move from student interests to meaningful projects, portfolio work, reflections, and college readiness.
Compass may include an interactive product preview, account-based dashboards, project recommendations, project workspaces, portfolio tools, reflection prompts, AI-supported coaching, readiness indicators, payment flows, and related educational features.
2. Intended audience
Compass is built for parents, guardians, and families working with high school students, primarily students in grades 9 through 12.
Compass is not intended for children under 13 and is not marketed to children under 13. If you are under 18, you should use Compass only with the approval and involvement of a parent or legal guardian.
3. Parent or guardian responsibility
Parents and guardians are responsible for deciding whether Compass is appropriate for their student. Parents and guardians are also responsible for supervising student use, reviewing student work, monitoring account activity, and making final decisions about school, college, career, application, and family matters.
4. Accounts and login
Some Compass features may require an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, and notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
Compass may use Supabase Auth, Google login, or similar authentication services. You are responsible for any activity that occurs through your account.
5. Subscriptions, payments, and billing
Compass may offer paid subscriptions, early access, monthly plans, annual plans, or other paid access options. Payments may be processed by Stripe or another third-party payment provider.
By submitting payment information, you authorize the payment provider to charge the selected payment method according to the terms shown at checkout.
Prices, features, trial periods, promotions, and plan terms may change over time. Any material changes to paid access will be reflected on the site, in the checkout flow, or through account communications.
6. Cancellations and refunds
Subscription cancellation terms may depend on the plan and checkout flow in place at the time of purchase. Unless otherwise stated, canceling a subscription stops future billing but does not automatically create a refund for prior payments.
Davisville Labs may review refund requests on a case-by-case basis. We reserve the right to decline refund requests where access has already been provided, where a subscription period has already begun, or where the request falls outside stated refund terms.
7. Student projects, reflections, and portfolio content
Compass allows users to save project progress, notes, reflections, links, interests, portfolio-related information, and college readiness materials. You are responsible for the content you enter into Compass.
You agree not to submit content that is unlawful, harmful, abusive, misleading, infringing, invasive of privacy, or inappropriate for an educational platform.
Compass does not currently allow users to upload image files or documents directly into the platform. Users may save text, links, project notes, reflections, and related progress information.
8. Ownership of student work
Students and families generally retain ownership of original student-created work they create or enter into Compass, including writing, reflections, project ideas, notes, and portfolio materials.
Davisville Labs owns or licenses the Compass platform, design, code, interface, structure, templates, frameworks, educational pathways, prompts, examples, branding, and related materials.
9. Use of student work
Davisville Labs will not publicly use student-identifying project work, reflections, portfolio materials, or student examples in marketing without additional permission from the student and, when applicable, a parent or guardian.
We may use fictional, sample, anonymized, or composite examples for educational and product demonstration purposes, as long as they do not identify a real student without permission.
10. AI-supported features
Compass may include AI-supported coaching, brainstorming, planning, reflection, writing prompts, or project guidance. AI-supported features are intended to help students and families think more clearly, not replace student effort, parent judgment, school guidance, or professional advice.
AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or unsuitable for a particular student or situation. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, verifying, and deciding how to use any AI-supported output.
11. No admissions or outcome guarantees
Compass does not guarantee college admission, scholarship offers, improved grades, internships, employment, career placement, application results, or any other specific outcome.
Compass can support preparation, reflection, skill-building, and organization, but outcomes depend on many factors outside Davisville Labs’ control.
12. Educational use only
Compass provides educational information, project structure, reflection prompts, portfolio organization, and general college readiness support. Compass does not provide legal, tax, financial, medical, mental health, therapeutic, or licensed college admissions advice.
